Not more than words

I jotted down terms that have crossed my mind today. Probably nothing meaningful there but this is part of my creative writing process.  Vindaloo   (Indian curry dish) Intentionssimplementierung (german)  (simplifying intentions by mentioning exact date, time and location) varoaika (finnish)  (time that production animal that has been treated with antibiotica is out of production)   ristiintarkastus (finnish) (cross-examination) doctor-doctor (someone who has got 2 doctor titles)  rammenas (dutch) (a type of brassicaceous crop) phyllo-dough (A very thin type of dough) Croque-Monsieur (french ham and lettuce sandwich)  priorisoida  (finnish) (a verb for expressing that one work task is more essential and relevant than another)

Your thoughts are free

A German folk song on freedom of thought: Die Gedanken sind frei, wer kann sie erraten? Sie fliegen vorbei wie nächtliche Schatten. Kein Mensch kann sie wissen,  kein Jäger erschiessen, es bleibt dabei, die Gedanken sind frei.

At times truth is found in simplicity

There was a young lady, the age of 16. She had become good friends with a bearded man that had a goat laugh and he would tell her about Gandhi, Lao-tse and nonviolence. She was very fascinated by him and his influence accompanied her later in life, she didn't know it then, though. She felt he might have answers that no one else had. She asked him how she could get along with her sister. Her sister was twelve then, very beautiful and the two of them fought all the time. She was bothered by it, since the arguments seemed endless and unkind. The man with the goat laugh told her to pretend that it was the last hour of her sister's life. He pointed out, that it might well be. She tried out his plan and as a result she looked at her sister and saw her for the first time. This is how she began to hold her sister dear. Have you ever borrowed a book from the library and noticed that some previous reader of that very book has underlined parts of the text wit...

Joachim Meyerhoff - Alle Toten fliegen hoch Amerika **/****

There's not much "deep shit" in this book. It's quite pleasant to read but it still kinda lacks of a point. The main character didn't really become a better person by the end of the story. He didn't feel guilty about cheating on his girlfriend and to that was he not treating her very well. He spent a year away in America and hardly ever contacted her. Well, the question is, why did she stay with him? Nevertheless had he also his good sides. I like the fact that he took care of the horse that his guest family's son had abandoned. He became friends with Randy Hart who was in the Wyoming State prison sentenced to death. And the best part of the story is probably that he had curly blond hair. But he cut it off! This fact surely spoils the entire story. Lots of spoilers, I know. But I think you shouldn't read this book anyway. I will start reading my next book soon, a better one, and after reading it I'll write my next review. Untill then... Sweet...

Mexicooo

The other week was Mexican culinary week . So when I started to look up some recipes in the internet I encountered this Azteque-Gold drink.  I checked the ingredients of the recipe and imagined how it would taste like. In that moment I had this flash back to the year 2012, end of May: Berkeley, California, some small Mexican café. What I remember is the Mexican Hot Chocolate I drank in that café.  In fact it was always on my mind after I left Berkeley. Every time I had a Hot Chocolate I wished it could have been a Mexican one. But never did I think of preparing it myself until I found the Azteque-Gold recipe. What I want is to share it with you, so that you can be part of this Mexican Hot Chocolate dream as well! Enjoy! Mexican Hot Chocolate / Azteque Gold Ingredients: 1/5 cup water Cocoa powder or pieces of your favorite chocolate Vanilla essence or vanilla sugar 4/5 cup milk Some cinnamon A touch of salt Some chili powder, more or less Whi...
